Technological Upcycling

From September 1st to 8th, the "Technological Upcycling" training took place in Pompei (Italy). A total of 18 youth workers from 6 European countries came together to explore the concept of digital mediation, and to test innovative non-formal educational methods focused on new technologies.

The participants were also able to discover the projects and initiatives led by the Italian association Horizon Lab (based on Pompei), and active in the digital mediation sector.

Throughout the training week, various and varied workshops took place, including an introduction to Arduino, a workshop on electronic textiles, or a presentation of the Erasmus + program of the European Commission.

The participants also worked in groups, on electronic textiles projects of their choice. Some of the achievements that have seen the light of day include: a ciaoBot (it salutes anyone detected by its distance sensor), a smart t-shirt provided with a series of RGB LEDs capable of changing the color according to the parameters external such as temperature, intensity of light, etc., a technological hen with an integrated musical machine, or an intelligent hood capable of reacting automatically to weather conditions.
